upper big piney trip report

Post by ROBERT GEORGE SCHARNHORST » Sun Apr 11, 2010 8:45 am

a couple of weeks ago me and a buddy put-in at limestone and paddled down to hwy 123. the gage was at 4.2 .this is the best section i have paddled and i have paddled from limestone to lake dardanelle. lots of class II rapids in the first 6 miles but very remote. if you have an acident it's a long walk to the road. thier is one class III rapid witch i named house rock rapid. it's as big as a house and dead center of the creek with all the water presure flowing into the center of this boulder. the only hazard is th elow water bridge at mile 5. we seen lots of birds, ducks, and a turkey flew accoss the creek in front of us. I still have one more section to do. from walnut creek to limestone, 5 miles, class II-III. so if the gage gets up to 5' i'm thier or hurricane creek. robert

The walnut creek section is pretty fun.
