Lower Mulberry with photos

Post by GN YAKN » Sun Apr 04, 2010 8:20 am

Easter Saturday presented numerous choices for paddling. Grant, Ron and I chose the Home Run! The put in for the Home Run is currently the low-water bridge below Shore's Lake on Hurricane Creek. Take out is the Mill Creek "access".

The gage at Turner Bend was at 4 feet. There was plenty of water on Hurricane Creek and that part of the run reminded me of parts of West Cedar Creek. Beautiful scenery and some pretty fun play/surf spots.

When we hit the Hurricane/Mulberry confluence the water was huge and reminded us of big Western rivers. It was great day on some really big and fast water that made me want to get the raft out and raft this section.

We met up with some folks that had just purchased a cabin at King's Ford and were paddling a couple of tandem canoes on a maiden voyage. Nice folks and excited to be paddling the river.

Finished off the day eating mud bugs until our lips throbbed and watching Mike look for his "lost" boat! :poke:
