Where to get paddles
Where to get paddles
I live in Fort Smith and I am having a hard time finding any decent paddles for solo canoes. Anyone help me out?

Re: Where to get paddles
Last time I was at PackRat in Fayetteville, I saw some Werner's over in the back left corner by the boats.
Also guess you could go down to OOO at Hotsprings.
if you want internet links, say so. Any particular Brand, material, length, or weight you are looking for? Telling us what type water you paddle would help as well. "Decent" covers a large ground, and there are a lot opinions out there.
For example, I like carbon paddles, but for open canoe, prefer a fiberglass stick or a stainless steel tipped Wood stick with a 9" to 10" wide straight face and about a 20" long blade and a "T" grip, oval shaft, if I can get it.
Favorites so far are an old Harmony/Perception canoe paddle, a New World custom made wood stick by Brandy Leeson and Steve Scarborough, and a carbon Wenonah. Also used to like a Illiad canoe stick before someone stole mine. Haven't gotten to try a Werner Bandit yet, and I haven't tried any of those ZRE Standup paddles yet.
Been tinkering around a bit gathering up parts and materials here and there, and thinking of making a mold off of my Harmony later this spring or summer, if you have a bent towards building your own out of synthetics, but will wait until I have made a few until I am sure of how my mold does, before I offer to loan one out.

go to http://www.Cboats.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and do a search for paddles.
My current favorite is an Echo Creekstick. http://www.echopaddles.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with a wood shaft and a wood blade with metal tip insert.
