I've floated the War Eagle from Hwy. 412 to Withrow Springs, but can someone tell me about continuing down river? Has anyone floated from the low water crossing between Withrow & Hwy. 45 and then take out at Gar Hole?
I've checked Tom Kennon's book, but it stops at Hwy. 45, which I've heard you can't access anymore.
Thanks for any info.

@ hwy 45 their is a locked gate .... about 4 miles above that the creek passes through a rock pile, and an under cut bluff you can't paddle through , or get around with barb-wire all around the waters edge.

great, thanks again Painterbob.
Yeah, Google earth is a big help. unfortunatley it doesn't pick up fences, etc. with regards to a creek section.
Just to clarify, you mentioned about the section not being floatable 4 miles or so upstream of Hwy. 45, do you know if that's above or below the low water crossing on a county road?
many thanks.

do either of you happen to have an electronic map version showing the areas you discussed?
Also, what the "mill", is this area accessible by road?

OK. I found the War Eagle Mill for the first time, great place!
The store lady there said you can put in at Gar Hole and float down to the mill, just before the dam. She also said we could putin at the mill and float down 8 miles to the lake?
Just looking for some a float on War Eagle Creek. Thanks!

upper war eagle has some good floating as well. you can put in as high as witter for a little white water or even a few miles higher for some better whitewater. the fishing is okay was well. the upper most portion does has at least one fence across it.
