ACC Message Board
The GOOD news: We now finally have the message board back at a “real” web address (http://www.forums.arkansascanoeclub.com – if you bookmark the message board directly, you should update your bookmark, or you can also continue to use http://www.arkansascanoeclub.com/mb which will take you through the main ACC site and redirect you here to the forums). This new url should not cause the problems that some people had experienced pulling up the message board at work, etc. Additionally, the auto login issue has now been resolved.
The POSSIBLE BAD news is we may have an issue with exceeding our bandwidth. I'm not sure this is correct, but I'm not going to be able to get more information until Monday, so hopefully that is NOT an issue and we won't have any more down time in the foreseeable future.

Re: ACC Message Board
Unfortunately it sounds like they did NOT fix everything as some people are still having trouble logging in.
The best I can do is contact the tech support people who were supposed to have fixed things on Monday and see if they can't keep working to get all the bugs out. If you are having login problems, please email me a DETAILED description of what happens when you try to login so that I can forward that to the IT folks (email to membership @ arkansas canoe club . com w/ no spaces).
To clarify why the board is having so many problems...some people seem to thing we are having problems because "we" keep messing with the board or updating the board, and if we would just leave it alone it would be fine. Actually, it's the exact opposite. We have not had a message board administrator in quite a while, and more and more problems have developed and we have no one with the technical skills to fix things. If we don't figure out a way to get some IT support to maintain this board, the problems are going to get worse, the board is going to crash more, and eventually we could lose the whole thing. We're trying to fix all the problems that have developed over the past several months, but we still don't have an administrator who can actually manage it. This is a fantastic board that Scott designed for us, but now we just don't have anyone with the expertise to manage the thing, and we unfortunately probably waited too long to try to start maintaining it.
I'll do what I can to get us the resources to get it back in working order, especially before the Spring rains hit. Fish has actually agreed to help out some, but this timing was bad as we needed the webhost to make some changes for us and unfortunately they finally made those changes while Fish is on vacation, so now we REALLY don't have anyone who can try to look at anything until next week.
Sorry this is frustrating for everyone.

Re: ACC Message Board
If anyone is using Internet Explorer and is able to read this but unable to log on and post, try downloading Firefox at http://www.firefox.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It took me about five minutes and I was able to log on and post. It's easy to leave IE as your default browser without upsetting anything and use Firefox just for the message board until our VOLUNTEERS can get it sorted out.
Huge thanks to Heather, Fish, and whoever else is working on this!
I wish I had the expertise to help out.

Re: ACC Message Board
Thanks for the tip Dave...
I've heard from several who are having trouble logging in...has anyone had trouble logging in using Chrome or Firefox or Safari, or only IE?
Please email me if you have had trouble on any other browser. This might (or might not!) be useful information for trouble-shooting the problem.
Thanks

Hey, it's a bit of inconvenience. I appreciate the resources that the club commits to this project, even for us non-members. Thanks to all those who commit their time and personal resources. There is enough other web media to make plans for paddling. Right?

Re: ACC Message Board
So, I am guessing we had to revert to a backup of last nights database when we changed to the forums sub domain today?

Re: ACC Message Board
Something like that. Only now forums is the main domain not the sub domain because the sub domain would not work with our redirect on the main domain, so forums was an add on domain but then we were over our bandwidth, so now the main domain is an add on domain, not a sub domain, and forums which looks like a sub domain is actually the main domain. Isn't that crystal clear? :shock:Regud wrote:So, I am guessing we had to revert to a backup of last nights database when we changed to the forums sub domain today?
I think Fish is still making some tweaks, but if the WORSE that happens at this point is that we lost posts from last night and today, I think we are actually in good shape. The web host FINALLY has reconfigured everything so it should work properly. I'm almost afraid to say it, but I *think* we might finally have things fixed. (I hope I don't regret saying that).
Oh and by "we" - I really mean FISH has gotten things sorted out for us!!! Yay!!! THANK YOU FISH!!!!

Re: ACC Message Board
Don't know the full window of lost posts, but a couple from early afternoon today appear to be gone. Not a tragedy, just an FYI.
Very grateful for the help from Fish and others - thanks!

You sure this is on the right channel?
Re: ACC Message Board
We seem to have lost some posts with some changes the website host made today. It looks like things are working now - hopefully no more changes.

Re: ACC Message Board
Message board was down this morning due to a hardware failure at the website host. Looks like we're up and running again now.
