Anybody know anything about this?? This is a backboard I found on river left quite a ways above upper screw-up...Richland of course! It was about 20 feet up above river level and a real bit*h to get to. I'm guessing it floated down from somewhere above...god knows where. It belongs to Medic One ambulance services in Jonesboro! Quite a ways to travel. I've contacted them, but I was just wondering if anyone knew any other details?? I thought I had found me a new playboat when I first saw it

The Board was sort of placed where you found it on purpose. Thought process was that it might not be such a bad thing to have a spine board in the gorge somewhere in case it was needed again. It was an old river rat that drug it up there high where you found it.

My bad. And proof that educated guesses are still guesses.

(But it's still a good rescue story, and shows a reason why having a board stashed is a good idea.)

Well, the idea of someone putting it up there on purpose crossed my mind cuz I didn't think the water could get up that high...so, I'll get the thing put back up there in the same spot, but I'm going to tie it to the tree so someone else won't take off with it

Cowper, is your avatar pic you in a half of a canoe?

That's my 7 foot square stern canoe, nicknamed the SS Titanic, although you can only see the letters in a larger photograph. It used to be a 17' square stern canoe, but when Mike Beard found it the middle 10' was where it was folded around a tree. He salvaged what he could off each end, and then put the ends together with pop rivets. Once every two or three years we take it out for a spin. (At 7', spinning is about all it wants to do.)

That's awesome! There is a guy down the street from me that has a boat made of two old car hoods...I may get him to sell it to me one of these days...of course, it's a solo boat like your canoe.
