2013 World Freestyle Championships in Oklahoma or Arkansas?

Bids for location are due April 1. Look at the link. Check out the requirements.

Before you laugh or mock it, Wister Wave, at the right level, could be an ideal wave and venue for such an event. You'd need a lot of cooperation from the corps and local community, but...aah, who am I kiddin'. It's just wishful thinking, but I'd love to see what the world's top freestylers could do on it. Heck, I'd love to see what they could do at the 3rd hole at Dierks. Controllable release, lots of room for bleachers...stop it. Just crazy talk.

If we had the Tulsa Wave back like it used to be, it could work...back when it looked like this:

I could not imagine what kind of moves we could pull if the tulsa wave was going like it was back then. I would be a damned good play boater and would own a pike pass.

Will attract lots of attention wherever it gets located. That could be good or bad in terms of relations with the local community and corps. It'd be great to see it around here, and not as far out of the question as you might think - Tulsa Wave had at least one semi-big-time event way back when that drew attention (didn't the illustrious Randy Jackson show up some big dogs back then?). Rodeo then wasn't what freestyle is now, but the idea of having this type of thing in the Midwest seems almost exotic to folks from places with actual big time whitewater. You never know. Kind of like Kingston, Jamaica putting in a winter Olympics bid. Seems crazy enough to be really cool. :)

Anyway, I'd be careful about how such a thing would actually play with the locals - if the answer turns out to be that they'd think it was cool, then send in the bid!

To be more accurate, Fish, I got some big dogs to show up, but didn't show 'em up. Thanks anyway...

Man, those were some of the most fun times in my time of kayaking

every week end the Fort Smith and Fayetteville boaters would show up and surf all day.

One of these days, keep the faith
