Its the War Eagle at 6 ft on the usgs gauge by hindsville . Its about a 3mile run and takes 1-2 hrs depending on how much you play. The shuttle is all on hwy 23 except for about 1/4 mile on county road 5635. Here is a link of the shuttle:

If you want to run the small falls shown in the pic you have to put in above Witter a little ways. I have never had problems with the land owner, but I never leave a car parked at the put in either. I would drop off my gear and take my car back to the Witter Church parking lot or across the road from the church is a road side park, which is a good put in as well. You just miss a few rapids, the best one being the three foot river wide ledge.

beware of the MIGHTY war eagle. few have traveled her treacherous waters and lived to tell the tale.

There is a fun whirlpool at high levels that you can see in the stern squirt pics. its a perfect recirculating stern squirt place. its better at higher levels than when the pic was taken.

all jokes aside. this is a fun class II run with some good surfing close to fayetteville. it may not be as good as lee creek, but there is not the 13 miles of gravel road either.

i am a bit prejudiced due to it being five minutes from my house.

This was my secret stash... and now you have opened the flood gates!

Our family has a house on Grand Mountain in Aurora that overlooks the stretch of creek between the roadside park and the Aurora community center. Every summer I smallmouth fish the stretch across from the Pentecostal church. Every time it floods I gaze down upon the ledges in the cow pasture by the Aurora Cemetery and wonder what they would smell like from a kayak  ...

Seriously, this is a great stretch of river and I wish more folks would float it. Especially between Roadside Park and HWY 74/Hwy 23 intersection(commuter lot).
This section is being mined for gravel and sand. ADEQ is checking into the permitting of this operation, but I have the impression that it is a private venture and probably illegal.

I know Victor Caballeros took a float this weekend down there as he lives on 74, and I hope to be out there very soon. It looks like a fun little run. If anyone wants to plan a run on a weekend, let me know. I would probably be up for it.

I floated from a few miles above witter down to the 23 bridge. It not bad in a canoe. For kayaking though i would put in above witter and take out below just like the map link shows. there is a lot of flat water from there on out. there are a couple of decent rapids as well, but the flat water just isn't worth it in my opinion.

Joe, the rapid you can see from the road at Aurora is a rough one. I have never made it through it upright in my canoe. Haven't tried it in a kayak yet.

I checked around about the gravel issue and was told that they had proper permits from soil and conservation as well as ADEQ. The county is buying gravel from the individual running the operation and my source was a higher up in the county road department.

Sounds like i may see a new people on the war eagle. Joe I live up 127 call if your in the area and the creek is going.
