paddling Friday??
Anyone planning to be up in the Ozarks Friday? I'm leaning on taking a vacation day and heading up that way prior to the Board Meeting Saturday evening. Hoping to get two days of paddling in.
Richland if it gets up woud be ideal of course.

My source in Jasper said the roads got bad last night up there from freezing rain so we best have 4WD on any shuttle rig going that way. The creek may be Class III-IV but it sounds like the shuttle is gonna be Class V.

Can't rally anyone, was thinking about heading out there solo from Fayetteville, but Texans and deteriorating road conditions don't go together.
Hit me up if you want to head out there from Fayetteville no later than 8:30. (512)878-3013.

Re: paddling Friday??
From the western Newton County: We had freezing rain/sleet last two nights. Main highway looked OK this morning but I encountered black ice on Hwy 16 around Swain Community Center. There was a pick up truck on its roof in the ditch. Decided to turn around and not drive to Jasper. Side roads are in really bad shape - my driveway has been impassible for the last two days. Whole world is covered by ice.
update: 11:26 am: I just looked up and I believe there is no more black ice on the highways
:

Be careful if you decide to come this way,

The Richland shuttle will be fine today. This is what it looked like yesterday.

The scenery on Richland backdropped with the remnants of snow and ice on the bluffs was absolutely cathartic.

Catching Richland like this is kind of hard to do but its a must if you ever get the chance. The snow really highlights the landscape.

The short hike up to Twin Devil Falls was really pretty.

As were the falls. But snow or no snow ice or no ice these falls are always pretty in any season.

I'll try to put up some video that shows off that day better sometime later.
