Joe Kane's "Running the Amazon" - loaned out my only copy and never got it back. True adventure kayaking and good writing to boot.

Also I'd get the CRC (Colorado Rivers and Creeks) if you can find an old copy. Or spend the bucks and get the expanded/upgraded version, Whitewater of the Southern Rockies. We're basically about as far from west as east here.

Re: Books and Movies
Same sentiment as Fish, "Northwoods Whitewater" because North is as close as East/West.

Check out http://www.dougammons.com/. I've read some of Doug's essays from "Laugh of the Water Nymph"...some of the best stuff I've ever read...great stories very well written.

Siddhartha!
Sadly it's a fictional novel, but one that will help a person along in life, and certainly to view rivers with much respect and satisfaction.

Re: Books and Movies
I'm reading two books about the Green River in Utah right now, "The River Knows Everything, Desolation Canyon and the Green" a history and guide book, and, "Rock Me on the Water", a more complex biography by Renny Russell (co-author, On the Loose)who returns to the scene of a 1965 river tragedy.
One of favorite outdoor novels set in Arkansas is "The Earth is Enough" by the late Harry Middleton. A book of fly-fishing, some mentions of hunting, coming of age and the need for wild places.

Sweet...added some stuff to my Amazon wish list! Fish...I found some used copies of CRC, but CKS is selling a second edition new. It's about the same price as Whitewater of the Southern Rockies though.Fish wrote:Also I'd get the CRC (Colorado Rivers and Creeks) if you can find an old copy.
