we are recreational kayakers comfortable in Class I-II moving water and just bought a couple of canoes.
We'd like a day or two of instruction to each learn how to handle a canoe properly from bow and stern... We'll probably also try to go to paddling school with it in May.
Any instructors (formal certification is not so much important to us as a willingness and capacity to teach) looking to pick up a few bucks on some early season nice weather days? We're in NW Ark and also have a place near Jasper. Maybe a few hours on an area lake and then a moving water day?

PainterBob is the man that you all are looking for, he does all kinds of instruction and is one of the best paddlers I know.
Or you could just jump in over your heads and join some of the crazy playboaters that reside in arkansas, that way you'll learn real quick what not to do!

Give me a holler. We'll be in Licking, Mo (not that far away...) for the last two weeks in Feb and would be quite pleased to work with you. While I am one of those certified (certifiable?) instructor people, that is no big deal. No charge, but you could show us some places to paddle around your neck of the woods.
