Some Important Info about Roll Class in Shreveport
This year LSUS started a new policy, anyone that enters the pool building must be a paid member of the Ozark Society Bayou Chapter. Reason, the club carriers the insurance. So if none member was to get hurt they could go after the school. Also, everyone that comes must sign a waiver. I have to charge 10.00 per person for the class. The school charges the club 40.00 per hour. A student has to set in the pool area and it cost 10.00 a hour to have them there. So the pool now cost the club 50.00 a hour. So if you come please bring the correct amount and if your not a member bring 25.00 to join BCOS. I hope this doesnt keep anyone away, im doing the best i can with what i have to work with. We dont try to make any money with the class, infact we do good if we can break even. I would love to start having enough folks show so we could play some boat ball after roll class.

Adam,
guess I need to join the BCOS anyway. I'll bring the big bucks next time I come over.

Re: Some Important Info about Roll Class in Shreveport
I hope the folks in Central Arkansas are reading this, and see how lucky we are that we have a good, long term relationship with UALR! The only "better" pool deals anywhere are those where a kayaker happens to OWN a swimming pool, and very few of those are indoors!
But the comment about Insurance applies to the Little Rock sessions also. If you are going to pool sessions in Little Rock, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure your ACC dues are paid up. We want to protect our relationship with UALR by "following the rules", and this is one of their "rules" for giving us FREE access.
(This is not a thread hijacking, I'm just helping "bump" the topic. If you would like the topic "stickied", send me a PM and I can get that done...)

Cowper is absolutely right...it's a real sweet deal we have going with UALR. I am honored to have been able to be a part of it for as long as I have. I hope to also get to put some faces with the names this semester, as my schedule will allow me more pool time...which is desperately needed since I've been dry so long.
To the LA crew, CONGRATS on your success with the university! It's not easy to establish a relationship with a university, or most any other pool owning facility for that matter, so kudos. Also keep in mind, pool sessions are contagious! Not only do you have fellow paddlers that will inevitably show up to be taught and help teach, but the students and faculty also see people in the pool, and it peaks their curiosity.
Just keep up the good work, it's awesome that you guys have things up and running down there.
Peace,
Joe
