Roll Sessions Scheduled for River Valley Jan - March 24

The River Valley Chapter of the ACC will hold roll sessions at the Mercy Fitness Center at 7600 Dallas Street in Fort Smith on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of January, February, and March (1/13/10, 1/27/10, 2/10/10, 2/24/10, 3/10/10, and 3/24/10) from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Two lanes of the pool will be available for practice. The cost will be $5 per session for Arkansas Canoe Club members and $8 for everyone else. (Mercy Fitness members and roll session instructors will be admitted free). Please sign in at the front desk first; there are towels and lockers available. Before bringing you boat into the pool area from the side door, use the hose outside the door to wash your boats; their will be some bleach/water mix available inside to use as well. All participants must shower before entering the pool. We are very fortunate to be able to use the nice facilities at the Mercy Fitness club, so please honor these requirements and make sure that everyone follows their rules.

These roll sessions are intended for boaters who own and bring their own equipment; participants will usually allow others to try out their equipment, but please do not expect someone to supply equipment to you for the whole night unless you have worked that out with them. We hope to have several volunteer instructors at each session to assist people working on their rolls.

Ugh! I won't be able to help out much this year. Am teaching a class on Monday and Wednesdays until 7:00. Will make it when I can, though.

Just wanna say thanks to Diane for a GREAT roll session last night. Great turnout!! Thanks to all that came and helped some boaters find their roll or get a little closer. Hope to see everybody nextime and let's go have pie again....MMM FREE PIE!!!!!!

I've got the roll in my head. I just haven't done it yet with my boat. I gotta get to some of these sessions. I've been kayaking for 3 years now you'd think I'd have learned it! ACK!

Glad I was able to make it to the last roll session. I think the sweep roll is going to be the one for me... I'm not yet bendy enough for the C to C lol! See ya next week!
