OT, book recommendation

Post by lbaker » Fri Dec 04, 2009 12:38 pm

If you enjoyed the recent Ken Burns National Park Series, I think you will really enjoy the book, The Big Burn:Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire that Saved America, by Timothy Egan. It's a "bully" good read. I especially liked the parts about Ed Pulaski, Pinky Adair, and the Buffalo soldiers, but it's all good; riveting.
Also, if you like TR stories, The River of Doubt, by Candace Millard is excellent. And if you're into reading about forest fires and the men who fight them, anything by John or Norman Maclean is very worthy of reading. The later wrote A River Runs Through It as well.
