Re: Patches
plumbers glue.....
your so funny!!!.... what kind of patch, a rub hole, or a split?
Re: Patches
split. It's from boofing the roostertail on beech falls after the line pointed out to me was "stay left of the roostertail, there's a ledge you'll hit if you boof it". It looked like such a sweet boof I hit it anyway, soared right into said ledge, and hit hard on the side. The rest of the day was bailing and gorilla glue.

Most solvents don't affect polyethylene; that's part of the problem with patching kayaks. PVC cement won't work on PE like it does on PVC.

Re: Patches
i have a small amount of G-FLEX left over? your more than welcome to.... start the prep work!.. drill two small holes to head off the crack line, and sand the inside with some #60 grit to give the patch material something to bite to.

I've not tried it but hear it works amazingly well and cheap.

Re: Patches
At some body shops they weld Plastic Bumpers back together. I wonder is they can't do the same for a kayak if they had the right platic rod. I saw a guy weld a bumper back together and it looked like it was never broke.

Re: Patches
I don't know about the auto guys... But I do know there are guys with the tools and know-how to weld a plastic boat back together and, although not at first, in a bit of time you won't even be able to tell the crack was there. Of course, this depends on the extent of the damage and your willingness to shell out the $$$. That being said, other options that have been listed are good ones for the time being, but don't expect that temporary options will be permanent. I would vote get it welded professionally... But maybe find something to take care of the problem until you can... Bitchithane works awesome for short term use...Victor Caballeros wrote:At some body shops they weld Plastic Bumpers back together.
