Cadron Creek Photos
What a gorgeous Saturday in November it was today to be on Cadron Creek. Thanks to Mr. Weidower (sp?), nine boaters put in at his place and had a big time all the way to the Highway 65 Bridge. Here's a couple of photos and a link to several more at http://kcl.smugmug.com/Other/Cadron-110 ... 5979_ZtYMu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good photos, David. Thanks for taking them.
Re: Cadron Creek Photos
Were the trees still there that were previously mentioned? Any stainers?
Re: Cadron Creek Photos
Tree was still completely across channel at "Barking Dog Rapid". At the level (3.1') Saturday we were all (kayaks and open boats) able to go under it without any problem. No other major strainers.

As Roger said on the river, you couldn't have dialed in a better day. Nice pics Dave and thanks for posting so quickly. The barking dog tree was fairly easy to slip under on river right, but would imagine at levels over 4' a portage might have to be considered until a team of river beavers cuts through it.
Re: Cadron Creek Photos
How big is the tree at barking dog??? Is it possible to cut with a handsaw or is it gonna take a chainsaw? Planning on a afternoon float tomorrow.
Re: Cadron Creek Photos
I think a chainsaw is required. We're talking a tree that was tall enough to span the creek when it fell. You can extrapolate about the trunk diameter. All that aside, I personally would not attempt it until water levels come down. (Then again, I've never thought of myself as handy with a chain saw.) :)
Re: Cadron Creek Photos
At least 20" diameter at base tapering down to 10-12" at river right. Definitely chain saw...

Yeah I agree with you on the chainsaw. Will check it out tomorrow since ill be in my kayak and likely go back up Tuesday and just paddle from the bridge up in my buffalo so I can take the chainsaw and comealong with. Sounds like its gonna be a booger to get cut out guess ill see tomorrow.

Re: Cadron Creek Photos
I wish I'd photographed the tree in addition to the boaters. But it might help you to know that, as I recall, the end that would most need cutting (the big end on river left) was resting pretty high above the water. I'd estimate the tree is 2.5 foot in diameter.
You should probably bring a 12-foot step ladder and duct tape its feet it to the floor of your canoe, then tie the canoe to a rootball 20 feet upstream. Then remember not to stand on the top step of the ladder because that could be dangerous.
Seriously, be careful. And thanks in advance for the effort.

That tree dont stand a chance.
Re: Cadron Creek Photos
Tree is still there. Will try to get some pics up later. There is a rock on the left that is pretty close to the tree with the level today I beleive it can be cut from there on the up stream side. Once the water drops some it should make it easier. It would sure be nice to drop a chainsaw off there on the the drive up.
Cadron tomorrow anyone????
