We are planning a lower buffalo float and was wanting to know how to find out about the Beaver Lake discharge rates. Anybody know?

Your right painter man. We are wanting to do the last part of the buffalo. I have heard stories about the last part where ya come into the white. Was concerned about how much water might be flowin down it.

 head down stream to ship's ferry.... it's just a few minutes farther, and all the take-outs are on the same road.. so it's not like your going out of your way!

You will do just fine. The merging into the White is not a big thing but DO wear your PFD. It is a real shock to the system if you do happen to flip. The most challenging thing for this part of the river is Clabber Shoals just below Rush. It is probably the most challenging rapid on the river. Hug the left hand side and make sure your gear is ready for a spill.

Since the lakes are in the flood pool they will be releasing more water than normal for this time of year, therefore, I would recommend that you do not attempt to go upstream to Buffalo City. The shuttle to Buffalo City, Shipps Ferry and Norfork are all virtually the same so depending on how much of the White you want to see, I would recommend Shipps or Norfork.

Here is some info you may or may not find helpful.

Oooooooops! I stopped mid reply to eat and PB slipped one in on me. We had the same thought in mind.

Here is a map showing each of the takeouts. Click on it to enlarge>
