Ponca/Steel Cr. to Kyle's experts..
wanting to take non-paddlers there on Sunday. planned to rent a raft but they thought the level would be below the 20" airspace minimum for raft rental. thinking about "making" a raft by putting two canoes together but wondering if its going to be too low, dont want a scrapey run for that. The OWP recommended levels makes me think water level would be fine..

It'll be a wee bit boney. A couple of weeks ago we floated at 18" and we were dragging very slightly. I've floated it as low as 25" below and still had fun.

The river is up pretty good right now.Sunday will most likely work. Sat. there will be plenty of water.
Re: Ponca/Steel Cr. to Kyle's experts..
why don't you put your non-paddlers in kayaks? A bit more stable and easier for non-paddlers to maneuver than canoes.

if they are NON-PADDLERS why bring them to the white water section of the river?? to enjoy the day, drive a little farther down stream rent the raft from, Wild Bill the river will be at a good , safe, first timer trip flow.... just don't miss that take out

I agree with PainterBob. And . . . in addition to not missing the take out . . . watch out for ticks.
We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.

And I was wrong. Sat the water was a bit low for big rafts--but just fine for smaller crafts!
