Oct 25 - 31st

Hello all.
First time poster looking for some local info.
A buddy and I are coming down from Iowa to the Buffalo or the 11 point for a week or so.
We may even run Big Piney if I can remember how and where.
It's been 20 + years since my last trip there.
I think we used to hope for 5' on Piney?
But I'm not sure I'll remember how to get there or when to get off.
We're looking at the Buffalo or 11 Point mainly because we've never done either of them and also for all the available info on camping / takeouts and river mileages that are easy to find.
If someone on the board has time and info to spare it would help us out.
I'd like a local contact that can give me info for all or some of the above.
I'm watching water levels and it looks promising so far?
Thanks in advance.
Rob

You can get the contact for Moore Outdoors @ http://www.mooreoutdoors.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for information on Piney. Whether it is running or not depends on if there is rain the week before. I'll wish you luck on that one.

Buffalo would be my choice over the 11 point. You can choose from several outfitters on Buffalo. http://www.buffaloriver.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is the link for the BOC in Ponca. Some part of the Buffalo will be running, even if you have to go to the very lower part.

Have fun and good luck

Thanks, Is Kerry still at Moore outdoors?
I remember him from 25 years ago.
Great guy, we used to have him haul our boats to the put in.
We don't really need an outfitter, we have all our own gear and we've run a river or two.
I do think from all I've read that the Buffalo is a good choice.
I've driven over it and never really stopped before.
I was just thinking a local contact could give us up to the minute info on water levels and such.
Also we'd be happy to paddle with any of you that want to get together with us.
Right now I'm trying to decide on a campground that would put us in the middle of runnable water?
Is Kyles a good option, or should we aim for Ozark or something even further downstream?
That is something we could decide the day we leave if we have local info.
Thanks again.

Yep Kerry is still there, great guy. I think they were giving you the mane of the place as a contact for water levels, shuttles, or camping. Piney is a lot more fun then the buff. in my opinion. There is a lot better white water then the buff, but it is beautiful!

YOU OUGHT TO HEAD THIS WAY NOW!!!

We are getting pounded with rain!!

Good luck!

If there is water on Piney when we get there I'll stop and say hi to Kerry for sure.
I see the rain you're getting and I'd head that way now if I could.
Work has me tied up till the 24th.
The 25th bright and early we'll be on the road.
Thanks for the info.
Rob
