Saturday floating

Post by landcruiser » Thu Sep 24, 2009 10:20 pm

Got a wife and 12 year old daughter wanting to paddle Saturday - live in Batesville - anybody know if the Cadron will be up enough for Saturday? Anyone interested in floating it with us? On call Friday night so if it's a killer night may have to post-pone.

We were on The Cadron last weekend from the 65 bridge to the 287 bridge, and the water was up. It was moving pretty swift at 5'. We did the 10 mile trip in under 3 hours in a canoe. It's went down a little more and cleared up since then. I live close by, and I planned on goin by tomorrow morning to see how it's looking. I would say it's probably just about right if the weather holds up this weekend. I'll let ya know.

Below is a link to the Ozark Creek Information Summary that shows water levels in the state and how they relate to low, optimal, and high conditions on the rivers.

http://www.ozarkpages.com/cgi-bin/stages.pl?ST=level" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can click on the column headings to sort by name, level, class, etc. Read the legend at the bottom of the page for more information.

To answer your question, it looks like the Cadron will be in the lower optimal range tomorrow.

I went down to the Cadron about 10 min ago, and it's perfect for a float trip. If the sun stays out 2morrow like today, I will be there for sure. I may go this afternoon when I find another paddler. The guage is for the area around the 65 bridge which is where most people take out. We usually put in there, and it's a pretty scenic trip over to the 287 bridge.

jbffrom conway - where are you putting in? Are you interested in doing a shuttle together? We'll have three kayaks - one is a Jackson fun 1.5 - quite small, the other is a wavesport 75 and a riot booster 55. I'd love to not have to bring two vehicles from Batesville.

Hi everyone.

How sure is everybody on the Cadron for Saturday? I've got to decide by 3 - 4 Today whether to drive to the Buffalo tonight or leave early Saturday for the Cadron. Thanks, I'll check the board after 1:30.

Chris Martin and I are pretty sure we are going. We want to float from the new access down to 65 though. We would be getting there around 10:30ish. We don't want to take two trucks either.

Gerry:

Thanks for the invite. Great, GREAT group at the Buffalo, and I've also always wanted to paddle the Cadron, plus its another 110 miles each way & I've gotta be back Sunday to teach Sunday School.

At least I've got two wonderful choices instead of none!! Gotta make my mind up soon. If I miss you tomorrow I still want to do the Little Buffalo this Spring.

Steve and Chris:

Beth and I would like to get in on the Cadron trip from new access down to Hwy 65. We'll have our Element with 2 boats, so can haul 2 more (boas and people) and help with shuttle. Will plan on seeing you at Hwy 65 bridge about 10:30?

HELLO AGAIN EVERYONE:

I'll see y'all at the 65 bridge too. I can bring a Subaru (shuttle 3 more paddlers, only my boat) or my wife's SUV (could carry 2 other boats). I'll check the board about 10:00 after tonites high school football game to see if one is better than the other. Thanks VERY MUCH for this trip.

We'll be coming in from Batesville - do you think it would be okay to leave our kayaks at the put in and leave them unattended, then drive to the 65 bridge and leave the van, and catch a ride back to the put in with one of ya'll? If not I'll probably stay with the kayaks and let Faith (my wife) take the van to the 65 bridge and catch a ride back up with Dave and Beth.

Why don't we just meet at the 65 bridge at 10:30 and work out the logistictics there. Chris and I will be there. You can't miss the 65 bridge on the cadron heading North from Conway. The access is on the Left after you cross the Cadron.
