For those that have missed the various postings on threads about floating the Cadron during the rain event this week, or the trickling out of info via the rumor mill, a new access point has in fact been established on the "usual" section of Cadron Creek. It got it's first ever usage test Friday.
The put-in is two miles upstream of CCO, but only adds about 30 minutes to the trip as the water moves pretty quickly. You also gain several nice wavetrains and a pretty cool waterfall.
The new access point is on private land so we need to be extra conscientious about trash and impact so that we can keep it. There are numerous details in this link. But I'll restate some of the important points:
1. Be sure to close and latch the gate when you pass through.
2. This is a rough road across a cow pasture, go slow to avoid rutting.
3. Go even slower around the cattle, making them run is bad for the animals. If they are in the road move forward very slowly and they will walk out of the way. EXCEPT THE BULL! Bulls in general are stubborn and protective of their herd and this one has been called aggressive by the owner. If the bull is in the road just wait, don't challenge him for his space or he may challenge back and ram your car.
4. Consolidate into as few vehicles as possible, the less wear and tear we put on the road the better. The condition of the road is already rough enough that I don't think a regular passenger car could make the trip all the way in wet weather (i.e. when the creek is running) and more traffic will not help.
Many thanks to Heather, Coogan and Paco for setting this up and even more thanks to Mr. Johnny Weidower and his family for letting us use his pasture.

Eight of us put on there today in two 4x4 vehicles, and the road was already taking some beating. I'd say it's now a pick-up truck/SUV road only. More rain and more usage and it may quickly become 4x4 only.
I would not go down the last short incline to the picnic table, but park just above it. And despite warnings, two more boaters again fell on the slippery bank.
