Buffalo in the Fall

Wondering if the Buffalo River from Buffalo Point to the White River is usually floatable from mid September into the Fall

Some of the Buffalo Experts can better answer your question.

But, in my opinion, late fall floats on the Buffalo -- warm days and cool nights is just great fun.

Camping on Buffalo gravel bars, looking at the amazing bluffs and hanging out with friends around a toasty camp fire is about as good as it gets.

Probably be running considering the rain we've had. Check gauges or call outfitters. LIke Dave said, would be a sweet float. Plan on at least 3-4 days to make it right. Carry the fishing tackle with a license. Small mouth and sunfish await you.

Thanks folks for the information. Looked good to me too but wasn't sure.

Now I need a canoe. I've posted for one on the gear section. If I make the trip I'll let you know how it comes out.

Just the fact that you posted on the message board is a good indication you will end up buying a boat. But, buying a boat takes some thought as to how you will be using it in order to get the right one to fill your needs. In the meantime, rental or borrow may be the best way to go.

Are there any scheduled trips in October 2009; are you contemplating; Mr. McFadden? A few paddlers are interested in knowing if the Richard McFadden trips will happen?

I've left numerous messages (hint, hint)............but I suppose life can get complicated and the rivers are put on hold....Not for me though.

I don't know about Richard, but I'm just waiting for the water to go back up some and for the Buffalo River Clean Up day to be announced by the Park Service.

Susan, Mary, and I all paddled sea kayaks around on Beaver Lale for a few hours this morning and afternoon, with a stop over at Horsehshoe bend. Can't believe we had this nice of a day in August, party cloudy, rather windy, and 80's for temperatures. Mary has been out now 7 times in the Perception Shadow and is looking for one, or something close to it.

Awesome Eric! Glad to hear you and the gals are paddling! Wow, Mary is going to get a perception? That's what I paddled on the San Juan, fully loaded and it was fantastic (siton top though).

I'm homebased for a long while now, my teenage son is moving in with me  come 2010 and he loves to kayak............so I do have a Red Fred kayak from Scotland that a friend lent to me; it's a real neat looking kayak, most people stop and ask me where I got that playboat! It doesn't fit me well. He'll probably want a Jackson............ :)
Working a new 'fun' job and teaching lots of CPR/First Aid in Fayetteville! Got a Trooper 4x4 that I'll be driving soon for all my kayaking; need to give the Toyota a break and a real good cleaning!
Looks like the rains will be coming and hope to catch some.............SOON!
I'll holler at you if I'm up in the Monte Ne area! Regards to Susan.

Hi everyone! My computer is down so I am using my son's right now to post this. We will be paddling the Buffalo in the fall. The clean up will be one of those weekends. Hopefully we will be able to get more than one per month between Sep-Nov
