What are some good training runs around the little rock ouachita areas that would help me train for the tot. Ive paddled some stuff in NW ar like W. Cedar, Frog, Lee and have tried to make easy moves more difficult on rivers like the mulberry and white. I feel i have good boat control and can roll all day on flat water but still need some confidence. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated and put to good use. I have paddled with the NW chapter on occasion and they have never let me down with their local "know hows". My girlfriend and I have been trying to find the time to go to a central meeting since we moved to Little Rock, but that has yet to happen, lookin forward to it though.

Go to Rockport as often as you can and get a bomber combat roll in the swift water below the ledges at Rockport.

Nearby runs like the Cadron are like Frog Bayou and Lee Creek. Next nearest would be like the Illinois Bayou and Big Piney. But basically just go paddle as often as you can at Rockport. Its down by Mavern. Easy to drive to after work and on weekends and it can really help you train.

Do what I did. Just go hit the Arkansas at BV. The hardest thing I had done befor that was snow creek. The Arkansas was a wakeup call but it was fun. You hit it and you can run the Tot.

The Snow Creek run on the Middle Fork of Illinois Bayou above the Bayou Bluff Campground is a good warm-up at 7' to about 8' on the electronic guage. It's short and can be run several times in a day... even with someone walking a shuttle.

I say run ed banks to the falls. If you liked it, didnt have any touble, and are still feeling funky go for it. Go with some people that have ran it several times and follow their lines. If you had trouble with it, run ed banks down again.
