Hiking the Buffalo area in late fall

Some friends and I are thinking about coming up to hike/paddle/camp over Thanksgiving (we're teachers and have the week off) I said I'd do some checking. Is hunting an issue for hikers that time of year?

As far as hunting that has never stopped me from hiking. Go to
http://www.agfc.com/hunting/deer/seasondates-deer.aspx for season dates. The main one to be concerned about is modern gun hunt. In the past I just got a blaze orange vest and draped it over my backpack. Normally the farther you get away from accesses, provided that ATV's aren't allowed, you should be ok.

ouachita hiker's advice is on target. Even though there is plenty of game and hunting is legal in the Buffalo River area, I have only encountered one hunter over the years and that was in a campground. Hunter's like to stay close to their vehicles. Never-the-less, it makes sense to use hunter orange at all times. The exception might be while you are on the river.
If you are planning to camp in the campgrounds, be aware that the water will be shut off. Buffalo Point and Tyler Bend are the only ones that have all year facilities. That means except for those two, camping is free. Vault toilets are still available. They are not checked much so bring your own TP and water.
