I am interested in floating Remmel Dam to Rockport this weekend. First time for me. Where should I put in at Remmel( south or north of river) and what shuttle route to Rockport is recommended? Anyone else going?

Since it's nice and hot, and with little water anywhere else, we'll probably also be back this weekend for another float there.
There really is only one place to put-in, on the North side of the river at the ramp just below the dam. Folks usually meet at the Whitewater Park (the Ledge at Rockport) to consolidate boats, leave shuttle vehicles, etc., then head on up to the dam. From the Malvern Exit on the interstate, we drive West of Malvern on hwy 270, toward Hot Springs. About five miles West , you come to the cable plant to your left as you get to Jones Mills, turn left just as you pass the plant and follow that road about a mile, you'll pass a little park on Lake Catherine, then on up the hill you'll pass the Entergy powerhouse facility then on through the gate straight ahead. Just past the gate, the road drops down the hill on to the gravel bar, bear right a couple hundred yards to the boat ramp on your left.

I'm would love to float the Ouachita again!! Saturday is the best day for me, but I can go either day.

Yes, I think Saturday will be the day. If it's convenient, I think Marlo and I will plan to be at the Ledge about 12:30 to meet&consolidate vehicles.

Got my computer back going. will b at rockport ledge at 12:30 Sat. My daughter may go,in my approach as she did last year-not sure yet. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Minna

Sorry to be such a newby, but if there is room for my kayak and I can get clear directions on where to meet, I would like to come with if I can find the time.

I know space is limited and I am 4 hours away in Tulsa, but this does sound nice if I can work it out in my schedule.

I can google directions to Hot Springs if that helps me.

I am sure knowing Jim and the rest going that your company would be more than welcome. I may come tomorrow, but not sure. You need to look for directions to exit 98 Malvern off of I-30. Take either 98A or 98B depending on which way you are coming from take 270 east about 1/4 to 1/2 mile take Rivercreek drive between the McDonalds and Wendys follow it down to the river and back under I-30 to the WW park. There is a sign for the turn as well.

And another very pleasant Remmel to Ledge float today! Many thanks to all of you who came along today! It was very nice to get Karl in a kayak again, to meet Mike Landers from Eldorado, to see Andy and Robert from Conway along, and to see each of you who are becoming regulars, like me and Mrs. Moose.

Jim....Thanks for a great float from Remmel. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and enjoy the company of so many formerly known to me only through your posts. I was certainly pleased that my SOT took the Ledge without mishap. I look forward to next time. Mike
