Re: Rendezvous
Second weekend after Labor Day, whenever that falls. Looks like the 18th-20th.

Re: Rendezvous
Minna: My advice would be to take both weekends off, Sept. 11th & 12th as well as 18th and 19th .... so you don't miss it ... whenever it is

Re: Rendezvous
Here's my other advice for the evening:
Rendezvous was my first experience into Arkansas Canoe Club. I showed up, paid some money at the gate to paddle with some folks, met the Kruegers as well as others that day, and have developed some really awesome friends that I spend quality time with now.
Rumor has it that it's not getting organized at the moment .... so, here's the advice if anyone cares:
If there is difficulty in getting someone to chair Rendezvous this year, it will get harder each year ...
So, instead of making an individual responsible ... why not take all the chapters and rotate it each year .... each Chapter will be responsible for getting it all organized their year!!!!
They can still use the same procedures, or they can change them ... it's their year and they can make it fit what they want ...
I don't want to NOT have Rendezvous ... and I have helped the past few years, maybe not much, but I did help hold down the registration desk as the tornado went over last year, and I can't do it all, but if I was working with my chapter, I could play a good part .... Let's not let Rendezvous stop!
So, who's chapter is going first? Just an idea! We need to start promoting Rendezvous ... as members, we don't even know what weekend it is being held for sure. (ok, maybe I need to check the events calendar, which I will do right now)
No more advice tonight from me!

Re: Rendezvous
Who should I contact if I'm interested in volunteering again for Rendesvous? (I helped run the barbeque smoker last year)
Also, I've heard rumors that the location may be changing next year... any comments? PM me ifnecessary or e-mail.

Re: Rendezvous
Rendezvous will be a topic of discussion at the Board Meeting this Saturday, so Susan if you are interested in taking over, I suggest you attend with your ideas. Seems we always have people posting on here about what they would like to see from the club, but no one (except for the board members) show up for the meetings, usually. I think we have a few members show up at February's meeting.
And Minna, I believe the Rendezvous will be September 11-13.

Re: Rendezvous
Renee: Glad to hear there is a date.
I do try to make general meetings and was not aware of the open Board Meetings. Pretty much thought those were for board members. As I travel in my job, and sales are down at the moment, unfortunately, I am unable to make many meetings or events ...I spend most of my time on the road.
But, thought someone would like an idea if it would help.
I have already committed to help at the front gate again, throughout the weekend, as I have the last 3 years.
Sounds like maybe more people are willing to volunteer by the previous post ... so that is a great sign!
Best of Luck at the meeting and thanks for the invite. I hope it goes well for the club and members. Thanks for being so pro-active to make things happen!

Re: Rendezvous
I helped out at Rec school and was glad to help. If I am off work, I would like to volunteer to help where needed at Rendevous.

Re: Rendezvous
ok, another idea ....
seems people are willing to volunteer, per this thread that Minaa started just asking for dates....
maybe the Rendezvous leaders will start a thread for
Rendezvous Volunteers!
I think more people are out there willing to help if we post it on-line.

Re: Rendezvous
First we have to have a Rendevous Leader to make that posting. Hopefully we'll have one after the Board meeting this weekend.

Re: Rendezvous
I hope someone is able to do Vous too!
Organizing events of any size is a huge work load (thanks again to those who do it!). It just wasn't in the cards for us this year.

Re: Rendezvous
If you want to know the dates for Rendezvous, see Roger's post near the top of this thread. He was correct... it is the second weekend AFTER Labor Day, NOT the second weekend in September. This makes it Sept. 18, 19 and 20 for this year.
