1 Day River Safety & Rescue Course (Rescheduled to Aug 15)

1 Day River Safety & Rescue Course on August 22 and again on the 23 (if enought participants are interested). RESCHEDULED DUE TO CONFLICT - NOW SATURDAY AUG 15

Course Overview: work on recognition & avoidance of river hazards, self-rescue techniques and simple rescue of paddlers in distress. Emphasis will be on both personnal safety and commonly used rescue skills.

Location: Malvern/Rockport/Lower Ledge
Date: August 22 and August 23 (if enough interest for 2)
Time: 8:00 am through 6:00 pm each day
Cost: $60 per course
# of Participants: 12 per course with a minimum of 8.

OK, I don't personally know most of you folks, is this a class a reasonably fit 50 plus person could handle? I've purposely avoided the multi-day SWR class because I was afraid I couldn’t hang with the kids.

I bet you could handle it. I'm sure it's one of those deals were you do as much or as little as you feel comfortable doing. If you were being certified as an instructor or something it would be a different story.

Robkanraft, the SWR class teaches you to use your head rather than your brawn in effecting rescues. If you can handle a one-day trip down a whitewater river, you can handle the SWR class.

You'll definitely be tired at the end of the day, but that's true of everyone that takes the class - no matter their age.
