Look at it this way - it gives you an excuse to go paddle some eastern rivers when you go to pick one up.

moving the mtfg to Chattanooga will help Mohawk improve as a canoe manufacturer. They are really trying to get positioned as a major player.

They just had a demo days at the Nanty last Saturday and the Asheville Ledges WW park on Sunday.

They asked for advice on Cboats.net recently and two of the suggestions were more demo days and new designs. This move should help out with their R & D. and better customer service.

Well darn. I hate to hear this, because I really enjoyed picking up a couple of boats at the FS factory and getting a tour while I was there. But my impressions at the time included noting the lack of "new" designs. It's sad but true; if you invented the PERFECT boat, that one we've all been looking for and buying cheap imitations of ever since we started paddling, you'd still have to come up with a "new and improved" model of it every few years just to stay in business.

I'm happy if Mohawk has decided to stay in the game. A locally owned, USA based manufacturing company is getting to be a little bit like a lizard - all we have left now that the big ones (dinosaurs) have all died off...

I wonder if there are any buying opportunities for us due to this move? Debo and I have been really happy with the camo touring canoes we picked up (Mohawk Solo 13 and Solo 14) last Christmas.
