Had my first adventure on Kansas whitewater this morning... the Kaw at 14,000 cfs. Right on the edge of being worth doing. Big, muddy (sludgey?) water and lots of sharp rocks with the occasional rebar to liven things up. 10 lb fish jumping over your kayak while you sit in the eddy, and big, toothy shadows of gar passing under you occasionally. Kansas locals made fun of my assertions that the water might have more than its fair share of pathogens in it, but then they solar showered first thing when they got back to the car. I enjoyed it a lot - great to stretch the paddling muscles and the oil washes off your skin with a little dishwashing detergent and elbow grease. :-)
OK, that last part about the oil is an exaggeration. :)
Nice weather finally in KC. Having fun up here, but miss Arkieland.
Have a good one,

Re: Big Nasty
Glad you made it out with us to the KAW. I promise it gets better. The Kaw is just always there even if it hasen't rained in weeks. Most of our stuff isn't as muddy, just more rain dependant. Hope you'll be out with us more in the future. I think I have maybe five guys lined up for boatball. Did you get a chance to check out southlake?
Your only young once but you can be immature your whole life
