Friday Fun: Lower Lil Mo 6/26

Post by Lupe » Wed Jun 24, 2009 9:49 am

Time to beat this heat with a run down to the lower Little Missouri (below Narrows Dam) for a Friday afternoon. They won't start releasing until 3pm, so this will be a late afternoon run. Probably won't need to leave Little Rock area until about noon (a little earlier if we are meeting up to consolidate boats and vehicles). We'll want to be ready to launch as the dam opens up to ride the surge down river. Dinner in Glenwood or Arkadelphia afterwards!

Get your work done so you can sneak out of work early on Friday to join us!

Carpooling locations/times TBD...

Cheers,
Heather

Heather,

Marlo and I were also looking at the schedule earlier this week. It looks like two generators so that should be a fun run. I don't know if we'll join in or not but will consider it further. Thanks for the post!

Actually, I believe it's 3 generators (I agree...I prefer 2 generators, but alas, beggars can't be choosers!).

If you can't make it this week, I might try to do a repeat next Thursday afternoon (they are not releasing next Friday...).

Stay cool! 8)

8 is one which I have never seen happen, 16 is two not as rare, 24 is three the most common.

I prefer two generators. So your saying it is 8 for every generator, not 12. So 24 means 3 generators. Gary and I might come.

Right you are Lupe and Adam, I had forgotten each gen. is valued at 8 rather than 12. I've been on enough 'Mike Coogan' trips over there I should have remembered. B.T.W. in the various trips we've made, we have floated it at One, Two, and Three generators on different floats, Two or Three usually, with Three most of the time.

I am going to try to get down there friday. Ran it once and remember there being plenty of nice surf spots. Cant wait to go again. If anyone from the Tri lake area would like to tag along be my guest. Give me a call @ 1-501-276-9701.

I remember one time we got there and they started up the generators about an hour early. Should we plan to be there sooner just in case and ready to put on if the whistle blows earlier?

I'd be in for next Thursday if that happens.

Steve,
From the time we depart Riverside Park(Put-in) until we reach the the take-out has averaged about three hours. This is about a 5 1/2 mile trip, but with the swimming, surfing, and visiting, count on about 6pm to the take-out.On a nearly hundred degree day, we like to stop and 'wax nostalgic' at least twice along the way. It's a very nice float with pretty cold water, and lots of strong currents and several rapids.
From Murfreesboro to Glenwood is about 40 min. driving time. I think for this trip, we will have another couple with us and they they may relent to my request to make it to Rocky Mountain Grill in Pearcy, so I can have some cold brewskies with my evening meal... At Three Generators on Friday, this will be a class II+ float. The river is not that curvy but fast and recoveries can be fairy involved due to the speed of the current.

Best Regards
Jim

With this heat, I was just thinking I bet it's time for a trip down the Lil Mo! Sure enough ... Lupe has it planned.
I can't make it this week, as Mom is having some heart surgery tomorrow morning (keep her in your prayers) ... but, I will hopefully make it next Thursday if you go!
Have FUN!
