Trip Report Buffy Overnighter

Post by Paddlegal » Sat Jun 13, 2009 8:51 pm

HOt, Hot, day on the river. But the company was excellent. Saw 3 otters who continued to chew on their fish as I drifted by. Didn't seem wary of humans at all.

I do NOT drive too fast.

HockeyDan took his first swim. I assume he has learned not to peel out into a rapid that is above the abilities of a recreational kayak.

Karla, did u smell something funny around those folks across the river?

cookies!cookies!

Nice to meet you all, hope to see you again soon.
I've felt the touch of healing hands, neath the willow trees and birch, cause the water's my religion, and the river is my church. Kenny

Was the best day ever to be on the river with great company and new folks. So glad your doing good Connie and can now paddle. Was great seeing you again and doing so well. Enjoyed Daniel coming along. And yes Daniel and I both smelled something near those folks along the bank, little small cigarettes with that funny smell.

Glad we had all the people there and the ones from Kansas and Springfield, MO area. Glad to meet you all. We couldn't have asked for any better and nicer of a day and water flow was great with few rapids thrown in. Will pray for more rain. Got to wash my van Monday.

Yes Connie, I have your door handle. It was attached to my hand when you stopped.

Thanks to all for the hospitality and great company. I Especially appreciate the welcome given my son, Will, on his first time in a canoe. He even admitted he had a good time and would like to go back sometime soon! We've got another boater in the making here I think.

Great pics Sharkattack, thanks for sharing them.

Minna, Carver to Mt Hersey. I was disappointed no boat wrestling pics.

Doug, was great to meet you guys also. Glad you didn't camp on the river?. You prolly would have had weather sattelite with an internet linkup mounted in that cockpit on your boat too, huh? You guys head home after or camp somewhere else?

And Richard.... you were missed and much discussed. Get well soon.

Heh, I've dealt with weather and rising water before, but yes, kinda glad we didn't have that much excitement on Will's first trip. I think his head was still reeling from meeting Terry and Steph anyway! ;)

Hmm weather satellite hookups... Don't get me started, please!

We headed home and got there just before dark. A little tired and one of us (not me) pretty sun burnt in a few places. I warned him...

Richard, you were definitely missed. I look forward to your return.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I am getting better. I should be back by late summer or early fall. Maybe sooner. I am taking it one day at a time.
We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.
