Dierks - Down River

Post by jonest » Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:54 am

Has anyone floated the 5 mile stretch from the campgrounds to hywy 70 within the last couple of weeks?
If so, can you give me a river report, please? Concerned about possible hazards (strainers, culvert at low water bridge etc.)
Also, any information about the take out would be appreciated.

Anyone planning on floating this section this weekend?
Thank you
Tim

Yep, not that hard if you have good boat control. There are some tight spots and turns to avoid the trees, but other wise, it's all good.

What Renee said + there is a low water bridge half way down. Portage on river left. Also, I think this run would be real tight for a tandom canoe unless they truly know what they are doing. Two canoes got pinned last week with the paddlers walking out and one ended with a search and rescue.
