Campsites for Throwdown

Post by ouachita hiker » Tue Jun 09, 2009 7:01 am

Ok I thought i would cover this:

1. The pavilion is reserved for the Throwdown, no problems like this past weekend.
2. Campsites 10 and 11 are reserved for the weekend.
3. I will reserve as many other sites as I can get away with! This is for those that would like a
quieter stay with us! Right now sites 7 and 8 are open with the possibility that 4 will open up.
4. If you don't mind staying of the beaten path I can put you up in a couple of other spots.
5. Jeremy and I talked some last weekend about folks on 10 and 11 not parking on the pads, parking parallel. That would give much more room for tents. Feel free to express your opinion here. I will work with you on finding adequate parking.
This past weekend on sites 10 and 11 we had at least 12 tents in the area of 10 and 11, we had 5 around the pavilion. You can put up more around the pavilion this time.

Parking around the stream could be a problem. This must be addressed. Not quite sure at this time on what we can do. Suggestions? You will have folks watching this time from the surrounding communities.

Thanks again Tom for all your work!!! Parallel parking sounds great. Tom, on the parking by the hole subject. Maybe we could let folks pull in, unload and pull out. The area that has all the ruts we could rope off and just stay on the upper end. I think some of the problem is folks that come with a ton of crap(myself) have a ton of crap to carry. Tom what ever you come up with will be good for me.

I had thought about the same thing. Drive to stream, unload and pull back on the road. I know that if you HAVE to go all three holes you would unload higher up than last weekend. While the water was down yesterday I did some weedeating on some of the more weedy areas thinking about the unloading option. We can discuss that Fri. when everyone gets there. The COE will be good with what ever we come up with.

I put up rope with strips of caution tape this afternoon. Lets leave the rope up until everyone gets set up with there tents. We will take it down before any of you guys hang your selves on it!
Also, please. those that my bring dogs, in the campgound please keep them on a leash or tied up. By the way if you want a good laugh as you come into the park read the signs rule on dogs.
Lets just say as you read the sign keep in mind that these signs are made in a federal pen. Some inmate is still having a good laugh!

Actually no. I should have but most of those weeds had been knocked down by the river current.
The worst thing down by the stream are what the locals call buffalo knats. They are very bad.

Ok here is a run down on what is available this weekend:

Site 7: Taken by Sabrina and company
Site 7.5 (yea this a odd one) taken by Michele Jackson and company
Site 10, 11, and pavilion anyone may camp.

PLEASE DON'T CAMP IN THE PAVILION!

If we have any big meal like last time why not just use the pavilion?

Sat during the day the pavilion will only be used by Jeremy M. for the festivities.

If you get to 10 or 11 first please don't take down the rope.
Those on 7 or 7.5 come see me or Janet (she will always be at the camper and
she is aware of who is supposed to get these sites. My apologies for those that was
supposed to get site 7 last weekend! My informal reservation system may not be the best
but it will have to do!

As always if I can help either post or send me a PM and if another site comes open I will post it here or the Throw Down tread.

GOOD NEWS!

There are now two more sites open, these are # 8 and 9. These are directly behind
my camper. I will work on cleaning them up this afternoon. These are real large
in size. The river is directly behind the sites but you should be able to put up between
two and three tents on them. They will be CLEAN when I get thru with them.

Also we are still having problems with the lights in the shower rooms. Big difference this time
is that I will have a key! I know that I don't have to tell you guys this but turn of the lights
when you are thru. Something is making the breaker throw. Less likely if they are off.

No to work, work, work, work

Paid???? What payment??? Nope we don't get any payment at all. Just we care about our park.

By the way Janet has been mowing next to the river all afternoon!
I do have a hard working wife! Any way we will be ready and this weekend I
