two day raft trip in colorado.. any suggestions?

Post by jackatspa » Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:31 pm

Me and pops are leaving tonight going to colorado. any suggestions on class IV overnight trips or multiday trips would be greatly appreciated. i know on some trips you have to have a minimum of 4 people. and that stinks! and does anyone know about the browns river canyon trip on the arkansas?

Thanks, Jack H

what up jack? Amy and I did some playboating on browns canyon and I do recall some decent camping (not sure if its legal tho, prob. all good). Like I said we were catchin some play so we did it in a day. We actually spent more time at the numbers tho! If your wanting to kayak some and raft w/ pops then you could play the #'s and raft browns 1st then if he is feelin it do the #'s too! We camped across the river @ 5 1/2.(river left)

What Tim said! Scott informed me yesterday that it is $400 to do a 2-day trip. I guess the raft company supplies everything.

Jack,

Bighorn Sheep Canyon (or whatever it is called) is supposed to be a bit longer then most of the Arkansas stuff, so maybe you could do a BSC + Royal Gorge overnighter. Salida and Buena Vista playparks are cool but if you get the chance Pueblo is really sweet if the wave features are in and good. Don't think you could overnight just Royal Gorge, but maybe you could just do two individual day trips (Royal Gorge and Browns Canyon would be two good days of rafting). Numbers is cool, but I think Royal Gorge would be a cooler overall experience from a raft (granted I haven't rafted them).

Hope ya'll have fun.

-Matt
