Another great Rec School - thank you volunteers!!

Post by Liz Caldwell » Mon Jun 01, 2009 11:38 am

We had a wonderful time on the Spring River this past weekend with Rec School. The instructors and other staff -- all volunteers -- did a fantastic job and worked themselves to death to make sure the students had a good experience, both on the water and driving shuttle.

If you see these people, please thank them for their dedication to the ACC and to helping introduce people to our much-loved sport and helping others improve their paddling skills.

The more involved I get in activities like Rec School, the more I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into planning and putting on such a successful activity. Once again, Liz did a great job bring it all together. Thanks Liz!

If you had a good time, one of the best ways to show your appreciation is to volunteer for any of the club's upcoming activities ...and it is a great way to meet fellow paddlers.

Liz, thanks for a FANTASTIC weekend of learning and socializing with fellow paddlers. It's obvious you put in a lot of time and effort to make it a special event for the students, and I appreciate it very much. I also want to thank all the volunteers for giving up their weekend to make sure it was a fun, informative, and successful weekend.

Now, I want to thank my instructors Mike Stanley and Michael Strobel for their dedication and patience on making our group better paddlers. I'm excited about getting back on the water to practice the new techniques I learned!!!

I will definitely be volunteering at the next event.

Peggy

GREAT JOB LIZ! I am so impressed. You kept up with everyone's car, as well as their car keys and where their cars needed to be.... I sure had fun driving some of those cars and thanks to everyone for having good air conditioners! *next year make sure you have a full tank of gas ... we were a little nervous in some of those cars!

Liz: You did a great job! I never realized how hard the shuttle thing was while I have been on the river in the past! Mike and I were so wiped out, we didn't even paddle (sorry to A. Bowie for waiting on us). We stayed and played dominoes and hung out at the river bank to rest.

Food was fantasic! So, who made the yellow cake and yellow icing???? Please make it for me on my next birthday, or even sooner. I know, everyone else raved about Marlo's yellow and chocolate icing cake.

I really hope all the newbies come to Surf & Turf!

Thanks again to all the instructors. It is so nice when you all spend your time taking people, such as myself, and work with us so we can hopefully join your ranks some day!
Thanks to everyone!
Susan
