Can someone recommend a good section of Spring River for a couple of newbies to ww kayak? Is there a decent outfitter that can provide a shuttle?

Dam #3 to Spring River Oaks is the "classic" run, enough action to have a little fun, but still easy enough for even first-timers. It can get rowdy, especially on a hot Saturday as the afternoon wears on and much is consumed. Sundays and weekdays, it is like a different river.

Spring River Oaks will shuttle vehicles or you plus your boats, but they also used to give you the option of dropping off your boats at the top, then driving your own car to the bottom, where for a reasonable fee you could hop on one of their shuttle busses for a ride back to the top to rejoin your group. Depends on what you have more of - time, or money. Some of their rates are here:

but you'll have to call them for rates on various options and to see what they are willing to do.

If you are camping, I'd recommend Riverside Resorts. Both SRO and RR patrol at night to keep the noise level under control after bedtime, but more of the SRO campsites are located relatively close to the railroad tracks.

X2 on what Cowper said...I have only camped at SRO...like mentioned the train tracks are close....its all good tho...last Saturday was a good day to have a waterproof camera on the water. A lot of good "scenery" to be seen

Thanks for the advise. Now I can kill 2 birds with one stone.....make a nice little run AND my 14 yo son can update me on the birds and bees :)
