Jack Creek

Post by Greg Parker » Mon May 18, 2009 6:53 pm

Me ,Adam my nephew Forrest and his friend Dan went to Jack creek Saturday. Sugar was at 3 feet on the gauge at the bridge and looked really nasty. I thought Jack creek was really sweet the first mile or so was kinda bad small willow choked channels some too small to get a boat through but when it got down to business the rapids were almost continuous. Then we did most of the good section again after finding a place to access the creek I don't think we got all the good stuff though it's definitely on my do again list though I would like to try and find a place to get to the creek where you get all the good stuff and miss all the tree choked stuff at the top.

I bet even at 3' the first section of sugar is doable. It may rock you socks off, but it'd be cool to look at. I wonder what the falls look like at 3'.

Hey, Greg good that you got to catch Jacks at a good level, wish that I had been there, heard that it got up after i come back the tot sunday. To get the best part of the run go about 1.5 miles up the road toward the bridge, on the left you will see the creek along the side of the road. Thers is a small ditch that leads to the creek. We have been using this for quite awhile, it is well used spot a little wider than most places along the road, you can tell we've been parking there. If you get to where a road turns to the rifle range you've went to far. Flapjack

The place you mention is where we put in the second time. Could not believe there were no local boaters there. :?

all us locals that run it were down at the tot this weekend. Suprised it was running 3 feet on sugar. 3 feet on it is a sweet ride.

Three feet is a sweet level for Sugar or Jack?

Ty you mean the last section maybe because at 3 feet there is too much water to cross the first bridge upstream from the recreation area.

No, I don't think that I would try to cross Knobberford at 3 either very iffy and the little creek around the corner going to jacks putin can be iffy and sometimes you can drive to putin on sugar and not be able to go back and get your tuck no matter how big it is and yes we all had plans to go to the tot and camp can't, get it right all the time but at higher levels these creeks can't be beat for fun.
