Frog Bayou-Friday 5-15-09?
Anybody interested in an afternoon run on the Frog from Lancaster to Rudy on Friday (5-15-09)?
I'm flexible on time but was thinking of meeting at Rudy around 12:30 PM.

I would like a Birthday paddling. I'm off all day. I'm loading golf gear and boating gear. I would rather paddle in the AM with more water and golf in the PM..... and let the course dry a little....but ....this is NOT a golf forum,is it? So, I'm good for any thing any time! Four61-795four.

Steve:
I've got some things to do at work in the morning so I'm limited to afternoon paddling.

You all mind if I tag along? I'm a solid paddler and wouldn't be a liability

Re: Frog Bayou-Friday 5-15-09?
Y'all please take care of Brandon Cassidy (Monsoon Coming) this weekend. I loaned him a Werner Carbon bent shaft Double Diamond paddle, a Mango and black low profile Lotus XXL life jacket, and a White Lexington XL helmet with reflective patches so he could go. My name is on the paddle and helmet, and he is borrowing them with my permission until he can buy what he wants. He will be in a green Wavesport Diesel he just purchased. I would if I could go along to shepard him, but with my neck, right now, it is not happening.
He is converting from an open canoe to a kayak and I do not know if he has a roll yet. He has the desire, and will be a good paddler some day with a little experience and some training. Wish I could go with y'all, but maybe in a few months if we still have water then. I'll try to teach him to roll here on Beaver lake when we can arrange it.
Good news is that I am going back for a second opinion from another neurosurgeon (Dr. Knox) next month and hoping to buy an Interferential nerve stimulator soon to get me off of the Percocet5 pain pills, 12 hour Lidocane patches, Flexeril muscle relaxants, and Lunesta sleeping pills. None of those work as well as the Interferential nerve stimulator unit. It has no side effects other than blocking the pain for 4-6 hours and is non-addictive, and is supposed to help with the Stenosis (narrowing of the nerve canal in the spine) according to some studies. Guess I will be addicted to 9 volt batteries when I am not hooked up to 110v. So much better than the TENS unit I used long ago. Diagnosis was degenerative disc disease. Picked the wrong parents and lived too long as my doctor joked. MRI goes on for a page with the analysis of C3-C7, which mentions all the spurs, protruding discs, arthiopathy, 3/4" loss of vertical height, loss of cervical spinal fuid, and complete obliteration of the epidural fatty layer. Physical therapist asked me if I knew how serious it was and I said I had looked up all the terms and been living with it for 4 months, so yeah, I did. Told her about how I hadn't asked for any pain killers last year when I did the machete sugery following last years TEFKACS and then rebreaking my thumb 3 times in 13 weeks due to forgetting I wasn't supposed to do things like open the door on my Suburban, but now I have have had to ask for them. Have managed to paddle 5 times since New years day thanks to friends like Painter Bob, Richard McFadden, and my bow partner Mary McFann. A little off of my normal 100-150 paddle trips per year rate. Thanks y'all and I hope others remember to pass it on like you have. Couldn't have paddled this year without y'all and it has meant a lot to me.

Sorry if some of my posts have been fuzzy of late. Watch for some carnage when I finally get the Howler on the water.

Re: Frog Bayou-Friday 5-15-09?
And thanks Eric!! you are tops! BUT my good news is, that I got a little practice time rolling at Atalanta today and Tuesday. Dave (DMG) was an excellent teacher. I almost got it. So with a few more practices I might get it. Hopefully I can make it work tomorrow when the need arises....and it will. But anyhow, Eric, I hope your neck gets better so you can join us in some carnage. And thanks again for the great gear loan!!!!

Re: Frog Bayou-Friday 5-15-09?
Six of us (four kayakers and two open boaters) had a fantastic day on the Frog.
Congrats to Monsoon for a great first run in his kayak.
Ribbit!
