Wavesport outfitting Question?

Post by sspecke » Tue May 05, 2009 3:02 pm

Ok here I go,

I have a wavesport super ez and want to do some outfitting. Main goal is foam under the seat to support it, since it hangs from the frame of the boat.
My main question is I want to glue the seat rail to the boat. I removed it and the seat( to pad under the seat) and saw it is rubbing ALOT on the boat. Do you guys think it would be ok to glue it? By gluing and foaming under I'm trying to minimize seat/track movement and wear on the plastic.
Hope this gives everyone an idea of what I'm doing or trying to do. I need a camera to take pictures!

Thanks for any ideas!
Sean

Home Depot and Walmart sell industrial strength Velcro which may work pretty well. This way if you need to change something later you maybe able to That or shim it up with foam. That can be sanded down later on.

You also might try finding a newer model wavesport and reoutfit the seat area altogether with it. Being a wavesport, it should match up fairly well if you don't get to radical with it. I have the Project 52, and the outfitting is super comfy. As far as gluing the seat or some foam down, it might work, depending on what glue you use. The velcro is a decent idea, but I wouldn't expect it to hold up as well as epoxy of some sort.

Good luck,

be careful and don't make the bottom of the boat convex because it will set up a wear problem later. Oil canning is a normal wear, material of boat gets stretched from hitting rocks, etc. and has to go somewhere. If you push it out the other way it wear more.
