Question for smart guys: batteries for OC-1 pump

Battery is a C cell multi-pack 12V Ni Mh. Charger doesn't seem to be putting out anything. Will my 12V car battery charger mess up the Ni Mh battery? Charger that came with it put out .9amp or 1.8. Car charger puts out 2 amps on trickle. ???

Team Stupid's butt-crack-team of guys who passed 5th grade science class worked on this all morning... The answer is: square root of 7 volts per furlong, plus or minus two beers.

Here's what I found out. Don't do it. They evidently are very sensitive little things that get too hot if you throw too much current at them at a constant rate. Looks like a trip to Radio shack is in order.

I usually go with the constant 7 as an answer to any given question. How many furlongs in a light year?

Voltage for the car charger is a bit higher too, which would lead to overcharging. Unless you can figure how to repair the existing charger (it might just be a loose connection or corroded terminal, for example) then buying a new one specifically for these batteries is the right answer.
