Has anyone been down the creek between hwy 65 & hwy 285 lately? If the water stays up a good all day float with lunch on the river sounds good to me. It's been a couple of years since I've been on this stretch, but if I remember correctly, there are a couple of exciting spots on the water to enjoy. I took a detour today & the takeout ramp seemed to be fairly clean.

Cadron 4-25

Re: Cadron 4-25
I am showing it at 10 miles. would need a good start. We did it a loooong time ago. But I remember several areas of bumping in the raft along the bluff bottoms and the rock right at the bottom of one drop. Would want a good enuff level to keep the pools moving.
No way I can do this Sat.. but if it gets moved..... holler

You sure this is on the right channel?

Never done this section, but I am in conway and am always up for the cadron....I just bought an open boat that I need to learn how to use...I dont know if it would be moving though after a week with no rain....

James, I don't think there's going to be enough water for a great Cadron float this weekend Like you, I prefer to use a canoe on this section, the fishing is usually good.

I have done the section several times, and seems like it was 9+ miles via a GPS track. There are a few decent rapids on it, but also a lot of long pools. So for me, due to the distance and drop, it is best done when the level is 3ft or more, and in something longer than a playboat also helps.

Wes I'm not sure I would classify anything on this section as exciting. On the other hand, the last time I did this section I dissed it beforehand because I wanted to do CCO to the 65 bridge and wound up swimming at one of the rapids.
If you just want to get out and paddle, picnic and fish a little, this would be an okay trip. Better than a long drive to the Caddo if you live in LR, and I have to agree with Chester, a canoe or rec boat would be much more enjoyable.
