Salado Sunday

Post by landcruiser » Sat Apr 18, 2009 11:02 am

Don't know how much rain we are going to get, but there is a chance the Salado may be doable Sunday. Will be starting from Camp Takohtah at 12:30 pm sunday if we get enough rain.

How far is it from Little Rock - do you have to go get a visual? I've never been, but have heard good things so let me know if it's a go...

I'll be checking it around 8:00 Sunday am and will post if it's got enough water.

Salado showing 10.25 stones at 7:30 Sunday AM - may be coming up a little more as the tributaries empty in - should be fun.

The float is from Camp Tahkodah to the rest stop on highway 167 just south of Batesville. Takes around 4 hours depending on how hard you push it. I'm thinking of dropping a vehicle off at the rest stop around 12:15 today and then going on to the put in at Camp Takohtah.

Looks like three boats so far Big Nic, Caleb and me. Would love to have anyone else that's interested.

If anyone from down south wants to come you can either meet us at the rest stop at 12:15 or so or go directly to the put in at Camp Tahkohtah. The rest stop is on the left as you go north about five mile north of Pleasant Plains on 167. Takes about 1.5 hours from LR.

If you want to go directly to the put in at Camp Tahkohdah, turn left (west) on hightway 87 at Pleasant Plains and go about 8 miles to Cedar Grove, then right (north) on Camp Tahkohdah Road for about four miles to Camp Camp Tahkohtah. All paved roads. We usually leave $5 per boat with the Camp supervisor. The dog doesn't like me so I will caution you. Roger gets along fine with it. Must be my smell.

You can call me at home this morning until 10:15 at 870-698-0119 if any questions.
