The North Fork is flowing rather briskly still this afternoon, but I am thinking of paddling the five mile section from The Steel Bridge road to Riverside Gro.&Sta. about 9am, to FISH for Small Mouth on Thursday morning.Still thinking about this presently.

Re: North Fork of the Saline River (Benton), Thursday Morning
I just bought a Dagger Legend 16' canoe so I can take Rocky the pooch with me on the river. Two weekends ago Maurine, Rocky and I did the Steel Bridge Road to Riverside for the first time. I was very impressed with water quality and scenery. I have driven by many times but had never paddled the Saline, it is a nice float so close to Little Rock. We got a shuttle from Michael Sacomani at Saline River Canoe and I was very impressed with him and his company, I will be back. Jim, I wish I could join you Thursday but alas I have to work. I hope the fishing is good.

Hey Dave!
So nice to hear from you, and thanks for your report! This afternoon I rode my little motorbike up in the area. First, I went on up hwy 298 , to the section above Steel Bridge, where Dog Creek crosses the highway, about a mile from where it runs into the N.F. of Saline, just to check it out. Then I rode back down to 'The Steel Bridge' where I surveyed the water, and visited with a couple of local young men who had two brand new S.O.T. kayaks down at riverside ready to put in.
With little interest otherwise, and my commitments I should probably attend to at home, I may let the day slide this time, but the water level is just great...
Living right here within a half mile of Riverside Gro&Sta., it's a very handy float. Over the years I have had Marlo drop me off at Steel Bridge several times. On one trip I saw three deer crossing a rapid in front of me, naturally I froze and did my best 'dead log routine', to my surprise, 10 more deer trailed in single file behind them. This 'deer encounter' reminded me of one of those 'Westerns' I watched as a kid: 'Death Valley Days' 'Twenty Mule Team' hauling borax..
Best Regards

Hey Jim! Do you think the Caddo will be good this Sat.? I've got a minister and her husband and son itchin' to paddle after a youth float trip went belly up. Her heart's set and I want to get her on some easy and scenic water.
