GULPHA CREEK IN HOT SPRINGS MONDAY AFTERNOON 4/13/09
Monday morning and the water is high in a lot of places. I'm thinking Gulpha Creek in Hot Springs this afternoon, after the storms clear out. Hot Springs Creek is an option if Gulpha is too high after the morning wave of showers. There's no gage on Gulpha; I'm guessing that it is up enough to run, but there is no guarantee.
Does meeting at 1:00 p.m. at Westinghouse Drive and Highway 270 fit into anyone's schedule? Here's a link to a map. Let's meet at the entrance to the golf course. That's down on Essex Park Place, the road that connects to Westinghouse Drive; you can see the entrance from Hwy. 270 (also called Malvern Ave.).

Sorry I missed your post, Sean. I got in a hurry to leave and didn't look at the message board again after my last post. Um, the creek is kind of like a small Little Missouri. The water level was perfect; the gage for Hot Springs Creek (an even more fun run) was about 1.0. It is found here:
http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv?cb ... o=07358284" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think a level of 1.2 or 1.3 would indicate that Hot Springs Creek is runnable. Gulpha Creek has changed course in a couple of places, probably due to a major flow event. There are a lot more car parts scattered along the banks, indicating that the salvage yard upstream got innundated. I lost the phone number for the property owner on the southeast quadrant of the Ridgeway Road put-in and he wasn't home, so we did not go on his property. A lady on the southwest quadrant allowed us to park on her property and launch. Ask before you do so.
Adam, I noticed I still had your stuff in my back seat after I parked in my garage. Call me at home 224-1868 and we'll meet somewhere, someday.
Whooeie! I am so out of shape that I can barely keep moving. I'm shot.

Sean, can you paddle on weekdays? I'm always looking for more folks to join me in the middle of the week.
