Wild iris cover the valley floor where this creek runs, and should be blooming in about two weeks. 98 feet per mile average; 140 max. Beavers need to chew through some hazards before boaters can use this creek. Photos at

I know the captain is not gay-but metrosexual maybe. Mike do you shave you eyebrows or pluck your nose hairs? Even if you turn it around and shave your nosehairs and pluck your brows, it's still metro. I will not get into hotwax at all. The thought of Mike Coogan waxing up before he puts on his rock moving gear makes me very ill.

These days I'm glad to have any hair and wouldn't dream of harming any that sprout wherever. Nor do I pick the wildflowers. Gayly paddling creeks? Maybe. Treehugger? Won't say.

Careful, there.
I just got home from consulting on some landscaping for a young lady. My first suggestion was to dig up the purple irises from the front bed. She didn't know what irises are, so I commenced to trying to describe them, their shape, their softness, their elegant beauty . . . all while using lots of hand motions in the air . . . while standing in her front yard in the heart of 22nd Street Possie territory . . . .
I'm lucky I got home without catching some drive-by lead and with my manhood still secure.

Hey Mike, you ever look at Cecil creek by compton? I've never read anything about it as far as kayaking is concerned. Been thinking about back-packing it down to the Buffalo to check it out since I can't find anything....

I haven't looked at it. I think I saw an article about a group of folks hiking along the creek in the newspaper several years ago. The American Whitewater page (link on ACC home page) wouldn't come up for me; check it when it is running to see if Cecil is listed.

Ah, I found it under Broad Hollow on the Ozark Whitewater Pages. Looks like a solid class V. Forget that!!

Broadwater Hollow is a trib. of Cecile Cr. The first drop starts at the road and is a class 3, it gets a lot harder after that. Cecile is less than a 1/2 mile away. I have never heard of anyone doing it, but it looks fun. There is a trail that leads to Cecile following Broadwater down. Creek looks like class 3 solid bedrock most of the way with around 75 ft. per mile drop. Its in my backyard, so I would love to try it.
