It was still in the undercut on Sunday. Only about 1' of it was visible. Gonna take a professional extraction. Pay Moores to do it.

Everybody needs to know about that undercut. Its big. Not a good place to practice your combat roll.

If it was at the sisters I could drive in and winch it out for a price. Not many other places one could do just that however. If it's any other place besides the sisters I would recommend letting Kerry retrieve it for you.
The lower water levels might allow you to retrieve it aided by a couple friends, rope, and a couple blocks to double up your pulling power. There is a trail system on the river right side that has ATV trails leading off to most every pool.

Good luck! pm me if I can help!

It's under the river right sisters rock. End exposed to river right toward the gravel bar.

I've driven on the bar. Not a smooth ride. If Kerrys price for retrieval is reasonable I'd recommend you give him the business. Their phone number is 479.331.3606.

Theirs a chance somebody (insert name here) Might have rescued it by now and are holding it for ransom.

pm me if I can help on Saturday or Sunday and the water hasn't come back up.

Covering fuel costs is not bad Karma! My days labor, skill and vehicle to do this are on me. how much cheaper can one go???

If it was anyone I knew I would still expect some kind of contribution to the cause.

So whats so wrong here. No mention of a dollar amount much less a reply from the poster has been made as of yet.

It looks to me like all you will have to do is ask Wes. He claimed he would do it for free for asking.

I don't know this "Wes" fellow, I don't think I want too either.

Good luck!

I hope by the next time I pin a boat I will have met Wes.

If he won’t take $$ he will have all the frosty cold one’s coming he can swill. Plus dinner is on me at camp. I’ll cook and clean.

If he ever pins a boat, I will refuse his $$ but I will hang with him at camp while we lie and brag about how cool we thought we were freeing it! I’ll still supply the frosty cold one’s and dinner anyway! Jeez! A guy’s boat was pinned! He may NEED a couple of cold one’s and dinner! The war story and meeting a new boater friend alone are worth the price of admission! I already have a couple of good stories about boat freeing at that very place!

Pinning a boat by itself is certainly not the end of the world. I just thank God no one was on the downstream side of that boat when it pinned against the rock.

I have helped free a number of boats in my day and I would never take one red cent for doing it.

Next time it might be mine!

Its their kind of thinking and compasion that makes paddling with Shark and Gutit so pleasant. Add Painter Bob and Eric to the list . . .and thats just the beginning of the list. I have been helped in the past and I feel grateful when I can pay it back by helping others.

Sounds like we have a campfire topic next time we gather round a blowlog with a certain sailor :) and Richard.

In the mean time, has this canoe been rescued yet? I've got ropes, z drag kit, 2 come-a-longs, couple of big pulley blocks, if not a neck to use them with, but could possibly meet someone this week and walk in and direct if they gave me directions to get there. Got experience from a few hundred retrievals in the past back east.

Eric

ps-

Was wondering just the other night if anyone else had ever used a nylon droge cargo chute to pull a boat off over here. I had a small one once from a Hodge Army-Navy surplus store and used it three times on the Chattooga when I didn't have long enough ropes for a Z-drag. The chute I had, had a wire hinge that you could pull on to deflate it, so all you had left was the loose material drag. Had to make sure you were ready to take up all lines as it could be really fast in fast water and lots of power to pull. Was not a one person tool, but it could take the place of 6-10 people pulling. We always had to wrap the canoe in multiple straps and not just a rope on a thwart, as it could tear the thwart out if the canoe was pinned badly. Never did that myself, but had heard of others who had with an "opps" reaction of using too much force.
