Incidents such as this (especially when they don't involve me) show why
The Paddler's Guide to Hiking Richland Creek is a book that must be written (I am currently editing Chapter One:
Where Are Our Oars?, by Stewart and Marcell). The fact that it was a kayak that Roadblock grabbed and held is just a cherry on top (sorry RJ - I suffer from SGS* and KDS**, and when they hit me at the same time the RBF side of me gets control of my typing finger).
The trip report is posted on another thread.
* Strangelove Glove Syndrome
** Kayak Derangement Syndome

Hmm -- but I thought RandyJ was already aware of Road Block rock and the possibility of entrapment....

Beware the HEROs! No CREEKBOAT should be based off of a playboat hull it just doesnt make sense!

Glad he's OK, but the experience should serve as another lesson learned about roadblock.GO RIGHT(ALL THE WAY RIGHT as in right of the fin,almost on the wall) or GO LEFT(ALL THE WAY LEFT) to sneak it! Just dont dupe out,take it seriously even though its an easy 2-3 move and maybe we will stop seeing so many close calls there!Also if someone you know is w/ you and they are not familiar w/ the creek then be SURE they know BEFORE you enter the lead in rapid above roadblock.Tell them what to do if they miss the eddies on L or R.Explain that if they want to run the right then they must eddy on the right.Do not encourage anyone to try and ferry from either eddy in front of the rock, if they are on left then run left.If they are on right then run right!The ferry across to get to the sneak is probably worse than running the right side anyways.Vice versa also.If a solid boater eddies left then wants to run right explain the move isnt that sweet and just not worth the risk.This spot has seriously deadly potential so please respect it.

Yea, that big ol' grande is such a better boat. I guess if it wasn't the Grande's fault it must have been
THE BOATER

Took awhile to get to the part that I was hoping to see, and that was some teeth to a smack down like that :) Which you had in spades... Hilarious! Sweet playboatin' moves in the grande Joe. It was nice to meet you yesterday at the Richland takeout.

Yep that would be boater error scott! Nice choice of music Will Smith ROCKS!

Glad you dug that up, thats probably the best freestyle ride Ill ever have:D No need to worry and get in a huff over my

youve pushed the hero's sales far enough.So far that all dupers and newbs own 1 now.Gotta be careful,sometimes that sh!t backfires.We never ragged ya till there were 50 dupers takin your word and tryin to become heroes too.

Again most creekboaters paddle creekboats on creeks not variations of the fun series.How about you come to south cedar big and lets see if i cant set up safety & VIDEO @ the chief for you!I know your not a duper but I got some cheese that says that hero'll get you scalped at the chief!

Those edges and funlike lines should get slapped around pretty quickly and then....HOLEBAIT!!!!!

TIME!It should be goin pretty good right now.Im off at noon and headin over to check the flow.And Randy are you headin to cali again this season.If so maybe youll join us on south silver instead of watching now that you have your trusty HERO!
