Re: Bill Mason canoe videos online
Thanks for the link, Ez. I've been a Bill Mason fan for many years. And I believe that Waterwalker has inspired me more than any other movie or video. I can relate to everything he says and does in that film. I had the VHS and then bought the DVD when it came out. I've probably viewed it at least 30 times.
I especially like the part where he is traveling upstream. He was a man who was always thinking outside the box. And then there was his "tent" which was actually just a canvas lean-to..."Everyone asks me "when does the circus begin?"
Ya gotta love that guy. I really miss him.

Mason died of liver cancer after 30+ years of wilderness paddling. I heard he owned 30 + canoes at his death.(the man had his priorities right)
His paddling style in that old chestnut prospector her paddled is pretty unique. His daughter teaches freestyle paddling. You can find her on the net.
Mason must half been a really fit guy. He was (like me) only about 5'6'-5'7"
and 145 # (unlike me at 165)
The tent he used and made for himself is similar to the old baker tents. Not so good in bug country.
