A Paddling Milestone

Post by DMG » Wed Mar 25, 2009 10:53 pm

Well, today marked the first time I've ever called in sick to go paddling. It's a bit out of character for me to do such a thing, but I did it and I feel proud for having taken control of my own life. I'm also proud that I didn't actually lie. It is true that I just finished moving and that I had to carry many heavy things. It is also true that my back was hurting... especially the second time through Buck 'n' Flush.

You are my frickin hero... for today atleast. Because, against every bit of free spirited will in my body, I filed in line at the clock like the rest of those dumb basses. Booo!!

Dave, you maketh me proud !

To vicariously be off work and at the river in my mind, is second best to being off work and at the river :D

Where bouts you gonna go today ?

The beer tastes great guys, even the Oklahoma 3.2 dogwater. Thanks!  I don't actually want to get fired for paddling which is why I carried my bad back into work this morning, but whatever happens, happens. They didn't know it six years ago when they hired me--I didn't know it either--but they hired a paddler. That's the underlying reality they're going to have to come to terms with, whatever those terms are. Here's one more:

Cheers!

I called in sick today because I was sick. :(

I'm hoping to be able to paddle tomorrow or Sunday one.

Ouch! Calling in sick because you are actually sick...that sucks!!! :(

Feel better!
