Hi folks,
I wanted to let everyone know about some membership-related news.
1) New members: we’re a little behind in processing new applications. We’ve gotten some more volunteers to help us catch up during this busy time of the year (with whitewater school, this is our busiest time for new and renewal memberships), so we hope to be caught back up very soon. As we catch up, new members will start receiving a welcome email to confirm their membership. Don’t worry, though, even if you didn’t receive a welcome email or any confirmation, once you paid for your membership, your membership started. Thank you for your patience as we get caught up!!!
2) Renewing members: Starting soon we’ll be sending reminder emails each month to those ACC members whose membership is expiring in the next month.
3) Newsletter: we are aware that we still have discrepancies in our database about whether members want electronic copies only, vs. mail only, vs. both (and in a few instances some members may be missing the newsletter altogether). We’ll be working to get these preferences clarified and updated. In any case, copies of the newsletter are also available as PDF files in the Members forum in case you need to download a copy (which is a nice segue to…).
4) Members Only Forum on the Message Board: we are also aware that we have missed a number of folks who have requested to be recognized as Members on the message board so that they can access the Members forum. This, too, is something we’ll be working to update as soon as possible so that all members who wish to be recognized on the board (special blue font, and all) are given that status.
Please remember that EVERYTHING that is done by the ACC is done by volunteers who have busy lives and schedules, and sometimes we’re not always able to get everything done as quickly or as smoothly as we all would wish…not that we don’t try! Thank you all for your patience and understanding!
I will be making additional announcements about these membership issues in the coming days and weeks as we start working on these specific issues in more detail. In the meantime, if you have questions or concerns, you can contact me via pm or email using the buttons at the bottom of this message, or by sending a note to membership@arkansascanoeclub.com.
Thanks!
Heather (aka Lupe)

You're getting better! Bold so I can focus for a few seconds...
but so many words, what were we talking about? Should we ask them to cleverly "hide" this post at the top of the page by putting a "sticky" on it???

Re: ACC MEMBERSHIP - NEWS
Well, dang, this is complicated!
I mean, I WANT people to read about this news about membership issues, so it SEEMS like I would want to get a sticky to put it up at the top of the page. But maybe if I get a sticky, it will doom my post to the inevitable shroud of invisibility that all sticky posts seem to suffer.
Plus, if I get a sticky, them maybe I'll miff all those folks who think we have too many stickies already. On the other hand, if I DON'T get a sticky maybe that will miff those who feel they don't get enough information about what the club is doing.
Man, I'm confused.
I guess I better think hard about this "to sticky or not to sticky" situation a bit longer before I rush into any decision.

Re: ACC MEMBERSHIP - NEWS
Big thanks to everyone who is working on these membership issues! Gaining access to the Members' Section was a bit of an anticlimax but I'm still glad to have it. I was sure you guys were meeting at some super-secret underground creek which runs all year and has skylights made of polycarbonate so they don't shatter when you set the blowlogs off and that the whole place was owned by a beer truck driver who hated his job and did everything he could to run his company out of business. Seems this isn't the case. I am enjoying the club bylaws, though!
Seriously, good job!

Egads, what mean-spirited moderator banished my important post to the sticky graveyard?!?! AAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!
Seriously, folks, we are making good progress sifting through membership issues and getting things caught up. Many of you who have issues will be hearing from one of us in the next few days. If you have an outstanding issue that you have written someone about, it is LIKELY going to be addressed in the coming week. If you still don't hear anything this week, or if you just want to make sure your issue is really "on my radar" then feel free to go ahead and send a new note to my attention (pm or email buttons below).
Thanks again for your patience.
Oh, and DMG...yeah, sorry the fantasy is way better than the reality!!! Sorry for the let down! LOL!

We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.
